I have worked in the Building Services Industry for past 35 years. How quickly does time fly?
I graduated from Loughborough University with a Building Services Degree and entered the world of consultancy for four years with R W Gregory and Partners. After a short secondment to AMEC, I then switched to the dark side to work for a manufacturer, primarily focusing in air conditioning, ventilation and heat pump design and sales. I have thoroughly enjoyed a fruitful career over the years via Trane, Space Air Conditioning (Daikin), Mitsubishi Electric (I nearly was a lifer there!) and I now run my own consultancy business primarily assisting Beijer Ref with their sales strategy (to promote and distribute Mitsubishi Heavy Industries air conditioning and air to water heat pump solutions).
Wherever I have worked, I’ve always had a real passion for developing relationships and growing businesses with people; learning about sustainable technologies and encouraging newcomers to flourish and develop their skills with confidence and enthusiasm.
There is nothing more satisfying than passing on what I have learnt to the next generation. I take real pride in helping people become the very best sales person, the most motivational leader or the most cooperative work colleague they aspire to become.
I love to learn ‘new stuff’ from my clients. There are so many inspirational companies out there developing their green agendas right now and planning for a far greener future….the industry has totally evolved in the past 30 years beyond recognition.
And finally, I still like to challenge my brain too. I have recently completed my NLP Master Practitioner course, which I find totally fascinating. Its all about clear communication and the psychology of language and behaviour….I’m still very much a work in progress and never want to stop learning (and sharing) more.
I have definitely found lockdown quite tough as I miss real human interaction. I’m thoroughly enjoying being let loose at last to spend time back out with customers and work colleagues again.
