Working in industrial refrigeration has been surprisingly interesting and satisfying.
It's much more than just keeping things cold, and there's always something new to learn or a different opportunity to take!
One of the best parts is getting to talk to young people and helping to open their eyes to STEM careers whilst showing the younger generation that STEM careers are for everyone!
Since being qualified, I have realised I really enjoy teaching the SURE apprentices. Sharing what I know and helping them succeed is very rewarding, especially because I remember being in their place not too long ago.
I'm becoming more involved with natural refrigerants, which are better for the environment.
Every day, I try to absorb as much information as possible from our more senior engineers, as without their knowledge being passed on, the skill set will soon disappear due to the extreme shortage of engineers.
I'm passionate about making a positive impact on both the industry and the environment, and this job gives me the perfect chance to do that.
Looking ahead, I hope to be recognised within the industry as a skilled engineer and to continue learning from senior colleagues to preserve essential skills. My goal is to make a lasting, positive difference in this field and hopefully I inspire some others along the way.
