Kim’s fascination with engineering began as a kid dismantling appliances to understand ‘how things work.’ A pivotal moment early in my career was making a retrofit project for a residential refrigeration system. Seeing firsthand how optimized FDHP technology reduced energy use by 30% while maintaining performance convinced me this field merges innovation with tangible planetary impact.
At Hussmann, I spearhead New Product Development for new generation multideck development that is our new generation of P Series. What excites me most is transforming theoretical eco-designs into real-world solutions.
As an NPD engineer, I prioritize knowledge sharing through weekly ‘Deep Dive’ sessions where team members dissect failed prototypes with me. One key lesson from my career: True leadership means creating psychological safety – like when we transformed a flammable refrigerant containment setback into a patent-pending safety valve design through blameless brainstorming.
To me, ‘Cool Skills’ means balancing technical mastery with adaptive thinking. The next decade demands AI-driven predictive maintenance and hydrocarbon retrofit expertise.
