Michael Brady – Apprentice Engineer, Climarite Refrigeration
Bootle, Liverpool | Age 32

I fell in love with the refrigeration industry from day one. I was hooked on the systems, the problem-solving and the vital role refrigeration plays in daily life.

What I love most about working in refrigeration is the variety — no two days are ever the same. From airports to restaurants, food production warehouses to music and sports stadiums, I’ve worked in some of the UK’s most interesting and challenging environments. The job has also taken me all over the country, from the Welsh Mountains to the Scottish Highlands to the Lake District and London. I’ve even had the chance to meet my hero, Jamie Carragher, while fixing a fridge!

Refrigeration isn’t just a career — it’s a passion. I’m proud to be part of a highly-skilled, ever-evolving trade and I look forward to growing within it. I think problem solving is a strength of mine and I get better at that every day. Despite being under an apprenticeship scheme still I’ve recently taken up opportunities to mentor and train up new starters, interns and participate in local careers fairs, which is something I’ve loved. It’s a nice to know I’ve got valuable skills and knowledge to pass on to others.

I am genuinely excited to see where this career will take me, it’s been a fantastic journey so far and I’m only really just getting started.
