Women in Coolings: Include me in the International network for Women in Cooling

I am a time-served Mechanical Engineer who was fortunate enough to serve an apprenticeship in a traditional toolroom environment where I learned how to service and repair heavy machinery in the production of automotive piston pins. Two-years after completing my apprenticeship I joined the refrigeration industry in 2002 as a Trainee Design Engineer at EPTA UK. I received a fantastic grounding into refrigeration at EPTA and in 2006 I decided to move into consulting where I have remained since.

I have spent my career working with retail supermarkets and have gained invaluable knowledge and experience in the development and deployment of technologies including CO2 and more recently A2L refrigeration systems. Since joining the industry my experience has been complimented by achieving professional qualifications, in 2010 I joined the IOR and in 2021 I became a Fellow. I also became a Chartered Engineer in 2017 and I hold a master’s degree in Business Management. My experience and qualifications have provided me with a ‘toolbox of knowledge’ to progress within the industry and fulfil my proudest achievement of successfully introducing and training the next generation of industry professionals.

Joining the refrigeration industry was the best career decision that I could have made. I have held an array of technical and management roles, have established, and manage(d) businesses and last year I wrote a book “Culture Redefined” that was endorsed by Investors in People.

My biggest industry passions are training and mentoring the next generation of refrigeration and management professionals, whilst also providing technically agnostic, strategic, data and fact driven consulting services to identify cost effective, energy efficient and environmentally sustainable refrigeration technologies.

My new business OMEGA Solutions allows me to follow my passions working alongside like-minded organisations and individuals, whilst also being able to continue the lifelong work of one of my mentors and friends the late, great Ian Ramsay: White Rose Software (MicroPipe & MicroCalc).
