Women in Coolings:

Growing up, I knew I wanted to make an impact to the world, I just didn’t know how and where. I started my apprenticeship at Arcus Refrigeration then naively as a young boy from Western Australia, I took a rare opportunity to work in Melbourne, never having been there before and not knowing where that would lead me. Two trains, and a bus ride led me to the Southeastern suburbs of Melbourne were I first stepped into the World of Refrigeration and haven’t stopped for 30 years.

Lovelocks is where I started and have fond memories of working with new designs for condensing units and control systems. It is there where I won my Young Achievers award and was offered the chance to do placements at other affiliate companies and subsidiaries in the USA. This is where I developed my passion for this industry. To this day, I still remember the relationships and friendships formed over my travels and experience with the Lovelocks (now known as Kirby).

Tasked with leading the major accounts in Australia, it soon grew beyond Australia and took me offshore. Having access and exposure to major retailers and customers around the world is what really cemented my love and passion for this industry. With the Panasonic acquisition in 2016, I was involved in many strategic projects which included the introduction into digital, refrigerated lockers, transcritical condensing units, extended product ranges and natural refrigerants journey. Since then, I have been promoted to Director of Regional Markets & Business Development leading a team of experts and game changers. The team keep me on my toes with new ideas and concepts which will drive the future of the Hussmann Oceania business. As early adopters on many fronts, I have been proud to lead the teams at Hussmann through challenges, adversity, and successes throughout my 20 years at Hussmann.

Looking back at my career, the aspect that I have enjoyed most is the people I’ve been able to meet along the way through the business and my travels, the skills I have acquired over the years, and most importantly the people I have been honoured to manage and lead. Without these people and experiences, I would not be where I am today – a creative, adaptive, and progressive leader in Refrigeration. Because I was given the oppor
